Which timber pattern would you choose?

The advantage of making your own surfboard is selecting the aesthetic and style of your choosing, from the style to size to timber pattern.

With the Bywater Surf wooden surfboards, we have several different deck skin patterns to choose from; featuring a combination of paulownia, cedar and pinstripes. These pattern styles do not age and are always classic and eye catching. For a fresh, crisp approach an all paulownia board with a center pinstripe is a winner. For something more old school, a board with cedar outer panels, paulownia center and 3 pin stripes is a crowd favourite.

We strongly encourage you to make your wooden surfboard your own with your own flair, so we welcome custom requests if you're after something specific - just contact us directly. It's surprising how many unique variations are available with our timber deck skins. A lot of our patterns can be reversed too; swapping paulownia and cedar around. While most boards feature sleek symmetry - there's nothing stopping you from using an asymmetrical pattern.

Check out our instagram @bywatersurf for a glimpse into the boards that are coming out of our classes.

Remember we are also a stockist of Paulownia timber, head over to this blog post to read more about it.

We'd love to hear from you if you have a particular board patter in mind, let's make it happen!
