Jack's 6ft Gould Fish from our October Wooden Surfboard Class
One of the highlights from our October wooden surfboard class was watching Jack bring his 6ft Gould Fish hollow wooden surfboard to life—from raw timber to a finished board ready for the ocean.
At Bywater Surf, we’re all about slowing things down and building surfboards the right way. Jack came into the workshop with a clear goal: a fast, playful fish wooden surfboard that would suit our Aussie coastline conditions while showcasing the natural beauty of timber.
The Gould Fish design was a perfect match.

Built From the Inside Out
As with all our hollow wooden surfboards, Jack started by building the internal frame. This stage sets the foundation for everything that follows...rocker, strength, and overall feel in the water.
The integral skin glue up followed and then the shaping of this wooden masterpiece.
Coupled with sanding and more perfecting of that nose and tail shape culminated in a beautiful 6ft hollow wooden surfboard that Jack can truly be proud of.
Stuart worked his magic in the polishing booth and the request for a smooth satin not too shiny look for Jack was adhered to and the final result is a smooth fast paced fish that is ready for

Congratulations Jack on an outstanding Surfboard and bringing your good vibes to our October Surfboard Class .
