Wood you rather a SUP?
From handboards to SUP boards, we’re into it all. Any size surfcraft is always a good time. Since the challenge of creating our very first SUP board several years ago, we’ve fine tuned the process and the result is always impressive. They provide endless fun for when the conditions strike, from Noosa to Currumbin we’re blessed with some great SUPing spots. If you're lucky to live close to calm waters, a SUP is a must.
We are hosting a Stand Up Paddle board making course in September (6-9th), it's the perfect chance to create your own, as it’s the only one for this year. Over four days, students will experience a journey through woodcraft and board making - similar to our standard surfboard course - but working on a larger scale with some important modifications and new techniques.
Instead of a solid paulownia nose and tail block, the SUP’s feature a laminated nose and tail structure. And of course every SUP needs a handle, so we've create a custom timber handle for aesthetics as well as practicality. The sizing of our SUP’s are 9’6 or 10’3, weighting in at approx 1kg per foot and with a variety of different deck patterns to choose from. There's no denying that a hollow wooden SUP is a thing of beauty. The natural wood grain and patterns create a one-of-a-kind look that is sure to turn heads on the water and acts as a beautiful work of art when not in use. With proper care, these boards will last a life time and may even become a family heirloom to pass down!
This course is perfect for you if you’re an avid SUP’er looking for an upgrade from the inflatable or you’ve tackled the wooden surfboard and want to add to your quiver. With our course held in Brisbane, we know many may miss out on the in-person experience - however we endeavour to bring the experience to anyone, however possible. As we fine-tune our SUP making at home kits, we welcome anyone interested to get in touch for a custom order.
