Waves of Generosity

Waves of Generosity

It is with pleasure to wrap up our recent charity raffle and draw a lucky winner! We set out to raise funds for Waves of Wellness Foundation; a mental health-based surf therapy charity - a movement that makes so much sense to us.

“Our mission is to implement innovative programs that break down the barriers and stigma of traditional mental health treatment and support. Small ripples make big waves – by empowering individuals with tools for wellness, we’re making positive waves that strengthens community connection”

We know first-hand the power of surfing, the ocean, connection with others, taking time out for yourself and learning a new skill or building upon old ones.  We’re chuffed to have rounded up our community members and to be able to donate a lump sum of $1500 directly to WOW. Every dollar counts!

WOW started with humble beginnings, partnering with ‘One Wave’ to pilot their first program. To date, they have run over 362 programs, directly impacting 3185 people through specialised surf therapy programs, across 4 states across Australia.

How does this money help? WOW Foundation indicates that $70 can help someone attend a surf therapy session or $500 can help someone attend an 8 week mental health surf therapy program. Donations also can go towards much-needed equipment like surfboards, suncream, wetsuits, rashies, vans and of course program facilitators. Take some time to read about WOW Foundation and the amazing programs they offer to all.

In other good news, we have drawn the lucky raffle winner, using random.org to generate a truly random winner… and the prize goes to Geoff Ryan! Thank you for your generous donations Geoff, we can’t wait to have you in the workshop to create some magic.

We are proud to be a small part of the surf therapy movement…offering the experience of making a wooden surfboard from scratch is pretty incredible and we’re stoked to be able to do so. The icing on the cake of partaking in our board making course? Well the joy of riding the surfboard you’ve made with your own hands, commitment and passion. Priceless!

Thank you again to all the generous folk who donated to a great cause and supported our raffle!
