Resin Coating your Wooden Surfboard

Glassing or resin coating beautiful timber surfboards is a meticulous process that enhances both the durability and aesthetics of the board.
We have been busy in the polishing booth doing just that to our wonderful student surfboards ...
We often get asked what is glassing and or resin coating and is it integral to the board's longevity
So to make a long explanation a little more concise -
The art of glassing or resin coating involves applying layers and layers of fiberglass cloth and resin to the wooden surface, creating a protective and glossy finish.
This not only safeguards the board against water damage and impact but also accentuates the natural beauty of the timber grain, allowing it to shine through.
The process requires precision and skill and quite frankly a lot of time as each layer must be applied smoothly to avoid bubbles or imperfections.
Then each layer must be cured (once again we are are talking about time here )
Once cured, the result is a stunning finish that really seems to transcend the grain of the surfboard into a religious experience ( well almost ) but more importantly its going to strengthen the board to withstand a lot of rough conditions as well as provide longevity to to the board
Yes its time consuming
Yes its another expense - but think of it as insurance for your board that will ensure it a happy long life
