Happy Handboarders in Hobart
We’ve fresh off the back of an epic trip to the Tassie Wooden Boat Festival, safe to say it was a great time filled with awesome woodcraft, watercraft and a great community of passionate folk. It was a hustling and bustling 4 days in beautiful Hobart - the array of boats were something else (unfortunately we didn’t sail back in one).
Bywater Surf had the pleasure of running several workshops in the Noisy Boatyard, guiding attendees through crafting their own wooden handboard. These handboards only take a few hours to shape and sand, resulting with an awesome surfcraft keepsake, enabling one to body surf longer and with more control.
We had a blast with everyone who joined, from all ages and experience, giving it a crack and the smiles at the end said it all. As always it’s our passion to share our love of woodcraft and we aim to inspire anyone to challenge themselves and work with their hands to creative something from scratch.
It was great to also showcase a selection of the infamous hollow wooden surfboards with a few going to new homes to be enjoyed and cherished. Our handboards now feature on our website, with the option to purchase a blank to shape your own, or a ready made one. A fantastic gift for the body surfing, woodcraft enthusiast. Now we embark on long trip back to sunny Queensland, in our trusty van with several wooden boards stowed. (yes, we did stop at Bells Beach!) Until next year, Tassie!
