The Pocket Rocket aka the 5ft 4 Fanny

Surfboard pick up day always hits different.

That moment when a board goes from months of dreaming and days of hands on shaping ... to something you can finally tuck under your arm and take straight to the ocean .

Last week Brendan dropped into the workshop to collect his beautifully glassed 5f 4 Fanny, the board he built during our October class. And what a little pocket rocket it is.

The Fanny is our take on a shortboard, with just a touch of volume throughout, perfect if you want something with shortboard performance but a little extra forgiveness. She carries a gentle roll along her length which gives students the freedom to shape back into the ribs and create their own bottom contours; single to double concave, chined rails or whatever combination feels right under their hands.

Brendan shaped with intention and patience carving in those clean lines that suit both the timber  and the board's natural flow.
